One- My name is Ka Suo
Many years later, I stand on a submerged rock that is on the coast, facing the sea, facing my kingdom, facing my people, facing the mortal undulating sounds, facing the snowbirds in the sky, and I burst into tears.
My name is Ka Suo, I grew up in the Snowy Forests, my companion was a sorcerer who often made people forget her age. She let me call her grandmother, but she called me prince, the eldest son of the magical Empire of Snow. There was also my little brother who had grown up with me, his name was Ying Kong Shi. The two us, were the Empire of Snow’s only remaining enchanters.
According to the Magic Codex, my name meant ‘Black City’, while my little brother’s name meant ‘Phantom’. We had different mothers and the same father, the Empire of Snow’s emperor. Our Imperial Father was the most powerful emperor of the Empire of Snow, the battle 200 years ago had caused the collapse of almost all of the forces of both sides. And that battle had made my Imperial family get irreparably hurt. My three big brothers and two big sisters had died in that war that lasted decades, and it was thus that in our Clan, there were only left two sorcerers, me and Ying Kong Shi. And in that battle, the dead sorcerers, astrologers, and soldiers were too many to count.
That battle became an untouched scar in all of the people, but in my memories, I only remembered the sharp whistling of ice and fire as it covered the entire earth, the sky was a cold, snowy white, but the land was a piece of fire. In the palace, next to the warm stove, in the Millennium Snow Fox fur I saw Imperial Father’s solemn face, and my mother’s wrinkled brow. Every time news came of death, I would always see Imperial Father’s burly body tremble slightly and my mother’s rustling tears. And the fiery red outside the window became my most vivid memory ad childhood picture. In the background was the desperate cries of my big brothers and sisters.
And this would last, until I struggled to wake up, and would see my grandmother’s vaguely old face, she would use her warm rough hands to stroke my cheek and smile to me, and say, My prince, they will wait for you ahead, you will meet again.
I asked her: Then will I die too?
She laughed, and said: Ka Suo, you are the future king, how will you die?
That year I was 99 years old, I was still too little, and I didn’t even have the power to obtain a sorcerer, so now, many years later, my memories of that war were blurred. When I asked grandmother, she would have a face full of smiles and say to me: My dear prince, after you become emperor, you will know everything.
Towards that crusade, my brother had basically no memories. When I mentioned this war to him, he would always casually laugh, sweet and child-like. He would say: The winner takes all, the loser is our enemy, big brother, this is justice, you don’t need to be said. When he finished, he would lean over to kiss my eyebrows.
Ying Kong Shi and I wandered around the mortal world for 30 years; that was after the battle. I remember, at the final point of the battle, when the Fire Clan had fell upon our Snow Clan, and at the time I saw the Fire Clan’s red hair and irises. I saw fire diffusing into the sky, I saw numerous Ice Sorcerers melt in the fire. I remember that I stood on the tall tower of the Empire of Snow. The wind came from all directions, fast and furious, filling my robe.
I asked my Imperial Father: Imperial Father, will we be killed?
My Imperial Father didn’t respond, his face was calm, proud. In the end, he only shook his head,
My little brother and I were sent out of the Empire by 40 sorcerers. I remember that when we where leaving, I kept looking back at the Empire of Snow, and suddenly, tears began falling from my eyes. When the tears came down, I heard a shrill lament from the Empire of Snow over the pale sky. I knew that was my big sister’s unicorn’s call. My little brother was wrapped tightly in his cloak. He turned towards me, and quietly asked, Big Brother, will we be killed?
I looked towards his eyes, and then tightly hugged him, I said to him, No, we are the world’s most powerful Clan.
Me and Shi’s escorts, 40 sorcerers were killed on the way out of the city. Inside the carriage, I saw fire sprites and wizards lying along the sides of the road. Among them, I saw Ji Quan, someone who had grown up with me in the snowy forests. She was a very cute girl, was born with a strong spiritual power, but she was also dead, dead on a cliff. A red three halberd sword was in her chest, nailing her to the black cliff. The wind blew her white hair and white magical robe, like a light beautiful dance. I remembered that when the carriage passed by the cliff, she had’t closed her eyes yet. I heard her talking to me from her white glistening pupil, she said: Ka Suo, my dear prince, you must continue to live on.
Tranz: Note that Shi refers to Ying Kong Shi, Ka Suo’s brother.
I remember the last fallen sorcerer was Ke Tuo, my Imperial Father’s bodyguard. My little brother and I got off from the horse carriage, and the unicorn that had been pulling us also fell. Ke Tuo kneeled down, and touched my face.
He pointed to the horizon in front of us and said: Ka Suo, my dear prince, in front of us is the entrance to the mortal world, I cannot protect you anymore. He smiled to me, his young and handsome face covered with snow. I saw white blood continuously flowing out from his sword wound in his chest, dripping onto the black land, uncoiling. His eyes were beginning to waver, his last sounds kept on calling my name: Ka Suo, Ka Suo, future emperor, you must continue to live on, my beloved prince, Ka Suo……
I hugged Ying Kong Shi, standing on the snow filled earth. I suddenly felt an unprecedented fear, and let go of the hand that was still on my face. He asked me, Big brother, are we going to be killed?
I said, No, Shi, big brother will always protect you, you will continue to live on, and become the next emperor.
